They are usually used to form flowerbeds
or borders. They need the same care as the roof-gardens. They
are seasonal flowering plants with deferred flowering according
to different species during the whole vegetative time. Withered
flowers have to be removed from time to time while exhausted
and parched vegetations have to be removed at the end of the
vegetative cycle. This in order to keep the flowerbed in good
and tidy conditions. The greatest part of this kind of plants
tends to spring up abundantly by means of runners, rhizomes
and so on, particularly at the end of the vegetative cycle.
The vegetation is very thick and full making even difficult
to carry out the usual agronomical cares (weeding, hoeing,
and manual weeding). It is consequently necessary to make
strong pruning to allow the actual vegetative renewal in springtime
as well as relevant proper growth.
